Welcome, Welcome, Welcome :)

A brief profile of Shirley Xue

Hello, everyone!

My name is Shirley Xue. I'm so excited that I'm making my own webpage in COS109! With no previous experience in coding whatsoever, I am amazed by how these simple codes can transform into a web page neatly.

To introduce a little about myself, I am a freshman in Princeton University. This is my first year being on campus as a proud Tiger! Check out the Princeton website! I live in the Whitman college, which is the best residential college at Princeton. Whitman has air conditioning in every room and beautiful archaic architectures all around. I'm undecided about my major because there are so many directions that I am interested in pursuing. Some of my candidate majors are psychology, neuroscience, sociology, or economics. I might also want to get a certificate in the visual arts. My hobbies include singing, arts, music, and table tennis.

I'm an international student from Shanghai. I grew up there and felt deeply connected to its culture. Although it felt overwhelming to transition into a new environment at times, I liked my experiences so far overall. The people I met here are truly amazing, diverse, curious, and talented in every way. At Princeton, I plan to join "the Daily Princetonian," which is a university news publication. The online news publication can be found here. I also joined the table tennis club, where I met friends who share similar interests with me.

Finally, to demonstrate I understand how to use escape codes (for the sake of this project), I'll say that I know how to type interesting and unusual characters, such as →, љ.

My Top 5

Now, I'm going to list my five favorite locations on campus.

This is a photo I took at the Buyers Hall besides the Blair Arch. It looks like Hogwarts, doesn't it?

Making this web page even more interesting

Here, I'm going to include a sound file which I find very satisfying to listen to when studying or chilling. It mimics the sound of waves in a lake and is very calm.

The Artsy side of me

In the summer, my friend and I curated an art exhibition featuring our own works in Shanghai. The exhibit was called "Life Beyond Life: On the Horizon." Here was a poster we designed for publicity. If you click on the poster, you will be taken to my personal art website. One of the tabs features the works and descriptions about the summer exhibit.

That's all for my website. Thanks for checking it out!
